Brakes Sound Like Bed Springs
Typically this is caused by the brake return spring of the brake pedal assembly.
Brakes sound like bed springs. Again its a dealer repair item. Answer 1 of 5. Powerflex Polyurethane bushes all round.
Take it to your mechanic and have him inspect the calipers by removing the pads and pumping the brakes. This annoying sound first started after doing the following mods. Jack up car.
This sound means the wear indicator is dragging into the rotor or that the braking pads are made from a low-quality mixture and there is a metal flake in the brake. But if you have not cahnged the shocks sinse new I think it might be a good idea now. So I twisted them back and voila- no more noise at all.
Ive never heard that rotational squishsqueak like that. Brake pads the parts that move and grip the rotors when you apply the brakes have wear indicators that are simply small spring steel plates attached to the pads. Also bushings like control arm or sway bar bushings can make noise with age.
Grinding brakes usually sound like a hard metal-to-metal sound. Usually sounds like you are describing are worn suspension components usually a ball joint or bushing. If you hear this sound it means your brake pads have worn out to the extent that their metal linings are exposed and these metal linings are now rubbing against the metal of the brake pads.
Spray the the rubber bushings with WD40 to see if it aleviates the noise. Look for very shiny metal scrape marks on brake rotor edges. When this happens squeaking or even bangingrattling can occur.
